Sir Paul Mccartney - Mccartney's Tour Is Meat-Free
SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY has banned meat from his latest tour - he's serving vegetarian meals to all his crewmembers.
The Beatles star is taking his Up and Coming Tour through the U.S., South America and Europe, and the staunch animal rights activist is making sure all his employees give up meat for the duration of the trek.
A spokesman for the veteran rocker tells Britain's Sunday Express newspaper, "We will serve some 480 vegetarian meals a day to keep the crew going."
British singer Leona Lewis is also taking steps to make her upcoming tour meat-free - she's wiped animal products from the menu when she hits the road in May (10).

Sometimes it's easy to forget that Sir Paul McCartney is Beatles royalty. He's so frequently in the public eye -- touring every few years, performing at 2006's Super Bowl halftime show and enduring tabloid harassment following his failed marriage to Heather Mills -- that it can't help but detract from his mystique, making him seem almost like Everyman.
In concert, however, McCartney, even at 67, is more like Superman. Watching him perform 40 vocally demanding songs over nearly three hours Saturday night at a near-capacity Sun Life Stadium, one could only wonder: How does he do it?
On the fourth date of his oddly named ``Up and Coming Tour,'' McCartney, displaying the energy and vocal ability of a man decades younger, gave fans of the Fab Four and his later hits with Wings a night to remember.
With a superb backing band, he performed just about every song anyone would want to hear, from the obvious (Hey Jude, Let It Be, Lady Madonna, The Long and Winding Road, Jet and Band on the Run) to the delightfully surprising (All My Loving, Got to Get You Into My Life, I'm Looking Through You, Two of Us, I've Got a Feeling and, performed for the first time live in the United States on this tour, a deliriously bouncy Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da).
CHILLING RENDITION
And those songs weren't even the night's true highlights. Halfway through the show, McCartney strapped on an acoustic guitar and performed a chills-inducing, solo version of Blackbird, followed by his loving 1982 tribute to slain Beatle John Lennon, Here Today, before which he said, ``I wrote this next song for my dear friend John. Let's hear it for John! Sometimes you don't say all you mean to say to people, and then when they pass away, it's too late.''
A few songs later, McCartney again appeared solo with his acoustic guitar to perform a tender rendition of Eleanor Rigby, flanked by the drummer and guitarist, who came up to sing backups on the chorus, Ahh, look at all the lonely people. Simply lovely.
REVERB-SOAKED
The tributes to his fallen loved ones weren't limited to Lennon. Before his ballad My Love, McCartney honored his wife Linda, who died of breast cancer in 1998: ``I wrote this next song for Linda, and tonight this is dedicated to all the lovers in the audience.'' And McCartney brought out a ukulele -- one of the many instruments he played on this night, including the usual bass and piano, plus electric and acoustic guitar and even mandolin -- for his jaunty version of the George Harrison-penned Beatles staple Something.

Before Paperback Writer, which featured five-part harmonies, McCartney pointed out for guitar lovers in the crowd that he was playing ``the original guitar I made the original record with in the '60s'' -- a gold-and-brown sunburst, hollow-bodied Epiphone, for those who care about such details.
Other highlights included A Day in the Life, on which McCartney's reverb-soaked vocals did John proud, leading into an audience singalong of Give Peace a Chance; Live and Let Die, during which explosive bursts of fire and other jarring pyrotechnics jolted the crowd; an amped-up version of Day Tripper; and, fittingly, The End, from the iconic album Abbey Road, which ended the second encore and the evening, with the classic line, And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.
From the awestruck looks on fans' faces as they headed home, it seems as if Sir Paul is way ahead of the game in that department.

"Животные выращенные на современных фабриках и убитые на скотобойне переносят невообразимые страдания" добавил он. В Великобритании поп-певицу Мадонну признали самой популярной артисткой последних десяти лет, сообщает BBC News. Американской исполнительнице удалось обойти в рейтинге, составленном британской музыкальной компанией PPL, даже The Beatles, которые заняли второе место в топ-10.

Vatican forgives The Beatles for 'bigger than Jesus' comment
At the height of their fame The Beatles enraged the Roman Catholic Church by famously declaring they were bigger than Jesus.
Their enthusiastic pursuit of the sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyle also did little to convince the Vatican they were anything other than a thoroughly bad influence.
But now in a move sanctioned by Pope Benedict XVI, the Catholic Church has offered the Fab Four its official seal of approval, forgiving them their various excesses and even lauding them as a “precious jewel”.

In a front page article the Vatican’s official newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, offers a glowing assessment of The Beatles’ achievements 40-years after they split, heralding their “beautiful melodies” and begging the question “what would pop music have been like without the Beatles?”
In an astonishing turnaround the Church dismisses previous moral outrages including blasphemous remarks, drug taking and even the dissemination of Satanic messages through their music.
While recognising that John, Paul, George and Ringo, were no saints during their time in The Beatles, the Vatican assures followers they were by no means the worst behaved rock and rollers of their generation.
Offering the band complete absolution, the article, entitled Seven Years That Shook Music, L’Osservatore Romano said: “Its true they took drugs, lived life to excess because of their success, even said they were bigger than Jesus and put out mysterious messages, that were possibly even Satanic.
“They may not have been the best example for the youth of the day but they were by no means the worst. Their beautiful melodies changed music and continue to give pleasure.”
It went on: “Forty years later the Beatles still astound with their originality and they are a
consolation against the continual assault on music lovers by the record industry.”
And referring to the band’s acrimonious split in April 1970, the article added: “Rather then expressing regret at their break up perhaps the question should be what would pop music have been like without the Beatles?”
The glowing praise may come as a surprise to many Catholics, given the band’s very public attacks on organised religion.
John Lennon sparked international condemnation by Christians of all denominations when he famously declared in 1966 that The Beatles were bigger than Jesus.
In an interview he said: “Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn’t argue about that; I’m right and I’ll be proved right. We’re more popular than Jesus now; I don’t know which will go first rock ’n’ roll or Christianity.”
At the time Catholic church was at the forefront of the attacks on the remarks, but two years ago forgave Lennon for his comments, insisting it had merely been the “boasting of an English working-class lad struggling to cope with unexpected success”.
While Sir Paul McCartney and George Harrison were baptized as Catholics, neither followed the faith.
In the late 1960s all four members of the band became fascinated with Eastern mysticism and Harrison later became a devoted follower of the Hare Krishna movement.
Earlier this year Ringo Starr, who turns 70 in July, admitted he had finally found religion saying: “For me, God is in my life. I don’t hide from that. I think the search has been on since the 1960s.”

How John Lennon and The Beatles Made the Epiphone Casino Famous
The Casino was unveiled by the Epiphone Company in 1958, just a year after the operation was acquired by the Chicago Music Company – then the parent of Gibson. But 1964 was the year that the ringing, bell-toned thinline hollowbody guitar entered rock ‘n’ roll history.
It’s unclear whether Keith Richards, who played a ’61 or ’62 model on The Rolling Stones’ 1964 American tour, or Paul McCartney, who bought one in ’64 and took it into the studio for the Rubber Soul sessions the following year, was the first superstar to own a Casino. But the mega-band that will forever be associated with the effervescent, P-90 equipped, six-string is The Beatles. Forty years after their break-up, they are still the crown princes of the Casino sound. McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison all owned Casinos and played them in the studio. And Lennon, in particular, became a champion of the model, using his on every post-Rubber Soul Beatles album and his early solo recordings.
Both Lennon and Harrison were hooked on the Casino after getting an earful of the crisp tones and bristling sustain produced by McCartney’s Bigsby adorned instrument, which he played on “Drive My Car” and “Taxman.”
When the Revolver sessions began a year later, Lennon and Harrison purchased new 1965 models of their own, making the Beatles (at that time) an all-Casino band. Harrison’s guitar sported a Bigsby, like McCartney’s, but was a sunburst beauty with a stock trapeze tailpiece.
After those sessions, Lennon rarely put his Casino down. It became his main guitar for the rest of The Beatles’ musical career, accompanying him on the band’s third world tour, including their final public concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 1966. Lennon’s Casino was his primary axe on 1967’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, chopping out the chords of his compositions “For the Benefit of Mr. Kite” and the sparking arpeggios of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”
Despite its extensive service on the era’s most cutting-edge album, the Casino was something of a calculated throwback at birth. In the late ’50s, the blossoming of the rock ‘n’ roll era required more powerful amplification, which made hollowbody guitars feed back. That’s why bluesmen like John Lee Hooker preferred Epiphone models like the semi-hollowbody Riveria and Sheraton. They could be turned up to cut through the noisiest juke joint audiences without howling through their amps. But the tonal qualities of the Casino’s classic hollow, two-f-hole construction and 16th-fret neck joint for additional string tension gave it a unique sound. And The Beatles and other rockers, like Richards, found feedback a desirable component of the era’s expanding sonic palette, and the Casino the perfect, highly reactive brush.
Lennon’s Casino got a prominent facelift during the making of the White Album. The pick guard was removed and the sunburst finish sanded down to bare wood before getting two thin coats of clear lacquer. The revamped guitar made its public debut in the Beatles’ live “Revolution” promotional video, producing an insanely raunchy tone — in contrast to George Harrison’s cherry red 1957 Les Paul, which was a gift from Eric Clapton. Lennon also played the now-natural-finish Casino in The Rolling Stones’ Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus film, backed by Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Mitch Mitchell for a version of the White Album’s “Yer Blues.” Parenthetically, Harrison also had his own Casino sanded down and refinished clear, believing the strip-down had improved the sound of Lennon’s guitar.
Lennon’s Casino can also be heard on “Get Back,” “I Want You,” “The Ballad of John and Yoko,” the intro to “Across the Universe,” and other Beatles classics, and was in his arms when the group filmed their farewell Let It Be concert atop the roof of the Apple Corp. building on Saville Road. Lennon used his Casino on the Abbey Road sessions, too, and beyond The Beatles, taking the guitar to Canada for the Plastic Ono Band’s famed Live Peace in Toronto concert.
Reportedly, he was interested in having the Casino restored to its original sunburst finish toward the end of his life, but that never happened. Today the guitar is owned by his widow, Yoko Ono, and listed in the inventory of Lennon’s estate as the “Revolution” guitar.
